QECC’s Remarkable Turnaround Earns 'Good' CQC Rating
Queen Elizabeth Care Centre Makes Impressive Leap in CQC Standards
Egham, 16 April 2025 — Queen Elizabeth Care Centre has achieved an overall ‘Good’ rating in its latest inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), marking a powerful comeback for the service and a proud moment for the Windsar Care Group.
The CQC praised the centre’s renewed focus on resident wellbeing, the professionalism of its staff, and the effectiveness of its leadership. Inspectors noted a marked cultural shift within the service, highlighting stronger team cohesion, better communication, and a clear commitment to improvement.
This marks a remarkable turnaround for the centre, which, during its last inspection, had received only one ‘Good’ across five key areas. The latest report confirms significant and sustained improvements across all aspects of care, leadership, safety, responsiveness, and effectiveness.
“This rating is a milestone for us,” said Dr Hemanth Kumar, one of the two Directors at Windsar Care Group. “We’ve poured time, energy, and passion into turning this service around. What you see in this report is the result of relentless dedication—from our managers, carers, support staff, and senior team. It’s more than a rating; it’s recognition of the values we live by every day: dignity, respect, and excellence in care.”
Inspectors highlighted several positive aspects of the facility, including staff dedication, leadership commitment, the positive atmosphere within the service, and strong emphasis on residents' wellbeing. The report noted an improved culture of care, open communication channels, and responsiveness to feedback.
The transformation has been driven in large part by the tireless leadership of Anna Illija, the Care Manager, whose commitment has been nothing short of inspiring.
“This result means everything to us,” Anna said. “There have been long nights, working weekends, and missed family moments—but I’ve never doubted that the hard work would pay off. I’ve been fortunate to be surrounded by a team that supported each other and believed in what we were doing. Together, we made this happen.”
The team’s concerted push to embed sustainable improvements has set a new standard for the centre and for the broader Windsar Care Group network.
With a ‘Good’ rating now secured, the centre has set its sights on achieving even greater outcomes, with ongoing staff development, enhanced resident engagement, and continuous quality monitoring forming part of its next phase of improvement, with aspirations of reaching ‘Outstanding’ in future inspections.
